Definition: A hydraulic pile breaker is a high-efficiency construction attachment mounted on excavators, specifically designed for the controlled crushing, cracking, and removal of concrete pile heads in foundation engineering. It replaces traditional manual jackhammer methods to precisely trim excess concrete piles to required design elevations.

The hydraulic pile breaker operates through multiple high-strength breaking cylinders that simultaneously push wedge-shaped crushing blades into the concrete pile surface from multiple directions. This synchronized radial compression creates controlled tensile cracks, allowing the pile head to be cleanly separated from the main pile body.

The machine typically features modular cylinder blocks that can be added or removed to accommodate different pile diameters ranging from 300mm to over 2000mm. Each cylinder block contains its own breaking blades and hydraulic circuits, ensuring uniform force distribution around the entire pile circumference. The system works on both circular and square piles, as well as precast, cast-in-place, and bored concrete piles. Noise levels are significantly lower than pneumatic breakers, typically below 85 decibels at working distance.
